The Book Didn't Have the Answer

I love photographing a bird to which I have no idea it's identity. So when my husband and I came across these juvenile hawks, and had no clue to their "name," I couldn't wait to get home and open up my bird identification book. However, excitement was quickly replaced with frustration as we could not figure out what we saw. The book didn't have the answer.

We had taken a short video of the birds calling so we clicked on the Internet and searched for a sound bite matching what we had.

The birds were Northern Goshawks. A species I had never seen before. Pretty cool.
